WebCOBRA.com Security, Backups and Procedures

Security Statement

WebCobra utilizes some of the most advanced technology for Internet security available today. When you access our site using Netscape Navigator 6.0 or Microsoft Internet Explorer versions 5.5 or higher, Secure Socket Layer (SSL) technology protects your information using both server authentication and data encryption, ensuring that your data is safe, secure, and available only to registered Users in your organization. Your data will be completely inaccessible to your competitors.

WebCobra provides each User in your organization with a unique user name and password that must be entered each time a User logs on. WebCobra issues a session "cookie" only to record encrypted authentication information for the duration of aspecific session. The session "cookie" does not include either the username or password of the user. WebCobra does not use "cookies" to store other confidential user and session information, but instead implements more advanced security methods based on dynamic data and encoded session IDs.

In addition, WebCobra is hosted in a secure server environment that uses a firewall and other advanced technology to prevent interference or access from outside intruders.

No Single Point of Failure

WebCOBRA.com has been engineered from the ground up to accommodate the high-availability demands of our customers' business-critical Web applications. We don't rely on any single point of failure. All equipment has a backup and failover capability to ensure a constantly running application. We took into account that hardware will fail - WebCOBRA.com will instantly work around these failures. In addition to failing over, all equipment is constantly monitored 24x7, and can be restored before anyone anywhere has noticed.

Power Availability

  • Redundant Power Infrastructure
  • Redundant Backup Battery Systems
  • Diesel-Powered Generators
  • Rigorous, Regular System Testing

Data Availability and Backups

WebCOBRA.com makes nightly full backups of your data, and in conjunction with our LiveBackup service, can be restored to any point in 15 minute increments. Backups are kept for one week, and are stored on a fault tolerant array of drives.

Physical Security

Armed Security Staff are rotating through the datacenter 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Badge-only access and a biometric reader further limits access to the DataCenter. The combination of these physical security measures with ongoing video surveillance ensures the privacy and security of the infrastructure that underpins your business.

Network Availability

Redundant Internet connectivity, via Tier 1 backbone network providers, enables our data center to provide redundancy against fiber cuts, electronic outages and Cisco backbone router outages while our network engineers monitor all supported services 24x7x365 and troubleshoot issues. Our backplane to the Internet include:

  • MFS/MCI - SONET Ring Internet architecture
  • SBC High-speed Network Connection
  • Phonoscope & AboveNet - dual path architecture
  • Cisco Gigabit switch routers
  • Onsite personnel 24x7x365

Fire Security

Our datacenter maintains a constant temperature of 70F at 45 percent humidity, with separate cooling zones for optimum equipment performance. Raised floors in the data center secure and protect cabling. Highly sensitive smoke and heat detectors, along with automated moisture detectors above and under floors, constantly monitor the environment. Compressed gas fire suppression systems add protection even in remote mechanical rooms and plenums. Environmental systems are monitored 24x7x365, with full system redundancy protecting the system. An adjacent fire station offers added protection day in and day out.

Disaster Recovery

WebCOBRA.com is hosted in a "managed hosting" facility located in Houston, Texas operated by Vericenter, a national hosting organization. Vericenter manages and monitors the Houston facility where the WebCOBRA.com servers are installed 24/7, and we have the option of relocating the servers to any other Vericenter facility at any time.

Our first standby production environment is located in our own offices in Houston, which have an operating version of WebCOBRA.com implemented on them and which have been tested to be able to take over the entire WebCOBRA.com operation in four hours.

The production facility is located at OurDataWorks in Lewisville, Texas, which has an operationally-identical facility to the one in our Houston offices, and which has agreed to provide Travis with office space, desks, and communication bandwidth should it be required. We have tested the WebCOBRA.com system on the servers at ODW, and anticipate that should it be necessary for Travis to relocate to Lewisville, the outage to WebCOBRA.com customers would be less than two calendar days.
