WebCOBRA’s Security, Backups, and Procedures

Security Statement

WebCOBRA On Demand utilizes the most advanced technology for Internet security available. When you access our site your data is protected by Secure Socket Layer (SSL) technology, which uses both server authentication and data encryption.

WebCOBRA provides each User with a unique company code, User name, and password that is required to log-in. A "cookie" is used for the duration of each session to track User information. The session cookie does not include the User name, password, or any confidential information of the User.

In addition, WebCOBRA is hosted in a secure server environment that uses advanced technology to prevent interference or access from outside intruders.

No Single Point of Failure

WebCOBRA is engineered to attain high-availability for its Web applications. All equipment has backup and failover capability to ensure a constantly running application. In addition, all systems are monitored 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Power Availability

  • Redundant Power Infrastructure
  • Redundant Backup Battery Systems
  • Diesel-Powered Generators
  • Rigorous, Regular System Testing

Data Availability and Backups

WebCOBRA creates full backups your data nightly. Our LiveBackup service allows for restoration of your data at increments of 15 minutes, upon request, for a fee. Nightly backups are kept for one week, with 15-minute incremental backups for the last 24 hours.

Physical Security

WebCOBRA is hosted in a Tier 4 managed data center, and is equipped with video surveillance, badge and biometric access devices, and a staff of armed security 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, to ensure the privacy and security of your data.

Network Availability

Redundant Internet connectivity, via Tier 1 backbone network providers, enables our data center to provide redundancy against fiber cuts, electronic outages, and Cisco backbone router outages while our network engineers monitor all supported services and troubleshoot issues.

Fire Security

The data center maintains a constant temperature of 70°F at 45% humidity, with separate cooling zones for optimum equipment performance. Raised floors in the data center secure and protect cabling. Highly sensitive smoke and heat detectors, along with automated moisture detectors above and under floors, constantly monitor the environment. Compressed gas fire suppression systems add protection even in remote mechanical rooms and plenums. Environmental systems are constantly monitored year-round, with the protection of full system redundancy. An adjacent fire station offers added protection.

Disaster Recovery

WebCOBRA is hosted in a "managed hosting" facility operated by a nationally-known hosting organization. The WebCOBRA servers are managed and monitored 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, with an option to relocate the servers to another facility at any time.

Our first standby production environment is located in our own offices in Houston that include an operating version of WebCOBRA, which has been tested and confirmed to be able to take over the entire WebCOBRA system, should the need arise.

The production facility utilized has an operationally-identical facility to the Houston office, and provides Travis with office space, desks, and communication bandwidth, should the need arise. The WebCOBRA system has been tested on servers at the production facility and, should it be necessary for Travis to relocate there, the outage to WebCOBRA customers would be less than two calendar days.
